Fredericksburg Must Reconsider Courts Project

By From • Jan 6th, 2009 • Category: News.Local

Brad Ellis, the newest council member in Fredericksburg, takes his first major position stance in today’s OP-ED section of the Free Lance-Star.  This piece, titled Fredericksburg Must Reconsider Building Plans is a detailed breakdown of the city’s plan to build a new courts complex at the site of the Princess Anne post office.  Brad had previously stated his issues on his website fburgimpact.com.

In this case, Mr. Ellis brings up a great business planning point.  You can only make rational decisions based on facts of what you know today.  Anything in the future is speculation, and although businesses may bet on certain products, to do so at the local government spending level, could be irrational.  The plans to relocate the post office create some interesting budget impacts to the project.

I wonder what The Silver Companies would think of this project as opposed to the briefly mentioned Fredericksburg Hardware Store location.  We may never know, because those projects (other alternatives were across from the civil war cemetery) were tossed with only preliminary budget numbers in favor of the post office site.

Does it make sense to reconsider?  If you think so, contact Mr. Ellis and the other board members through the fredericksburgva.gov website.

is the main guy around here.
