Idol Blogging – And then there were 3

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • May 12th, 2009 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

It’s been obvious for weeks that the fix is in for Adam. This must be the 3rd or 4th week in a row he went last. But tonight really took the cake. From the “Bono wants you to sing his song” crap with the judges picks to all 4 of them fawning over him screeching […]

Preserving the Chesapeake Bay: Kaine Delivers

By From http://fred2blue.com • May 12th, 2009 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

February:
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine is urging President Barack Obama to issue an executive order to speed up the Chesapeake Bay cleanup.
At a private meeting Wednesday in Washington, Kaine delivered a draft order that he wrote to Obama’s new chief of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Lisa Jackson. It calls for more federal attention, money and […]

“Pete Lawrence” & the “Silver Spoon”

By From http://fredvegaschronicles.blogspot.com/ • May 12th, 2009 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Some of you have written to protest my activist celebration of a “Pete Lawrence” for 2012 Mayor Campaign because of $500,000 worth of Silver money. As Marion Barry told all of us white folks after he was reelected in 1994, “Get over it.””Pete” has bee…

Currently sitting here in Floydada TX watching storms go up along the dryline. The trick now is to pick the storm we want to go after, and we’re on the verge of doing that. Also under an MD now (above graphic). Wish us luck!

Interpreting April 2009 Market Statistics

By From http://sarahiouslyspeaking.com • May 12th, 2009 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

My initial thoughts when seeing the April report was that we were seeing February prices finally closing in April and that I would see quite a few short sales and foreclosures on the list.
In April we had 15 homes sell in Fredericksburg City (22401).  Of these, 4 were short sales and 5 were foreclosures.  4 of […]

Flexibility is the name of the game

By From http://stormsrus.blogspot.com/ • May 12th, 2009 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Forget Liberal KS as a chase target for today. Overnight model runs came in showing the cap weakening along the dryline just east of I-27 in the TX panhandle, so our new target is….Ralls TX, about 30 miles east of Lubbock. Since we are now in Lubbo…

Guess they don’t have anything better to do: Caroline County Board of Supervisors considering seven pages of open burning regulations.

And these go much farther than the regular statewide regulations (PDF).

And consider this: According to the Virginia Department of Forestry, only two other jurisdictions in the state have local burning regulations in place: Roanoke County and Isle of Wight County.
The public hearing for the proposed ordinance is today at 7:30 p.m.
Thoughts (broken done by section):

shameless self-promotion

Contest season is over and not surprisingly I got shut out of the major ones – NPPA, World Press & Pictures of the Year. That’s OK there was a lot of big news this year and some really powerful work entered and my stuff didn’t come close.
On the upside, the judges of the Virginia News […]

Daily Grind – Business Portrait

By From http://blog.mikemorones.com • May 12th, 2009 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I shot this last week for the paper’s business section. Every week we have a profile on a local business owner. For a while we got an endless stream of cube dwellers which resulted in an endless stream of man-and-his-computer pictures. Lately there has been an opportunity to meet some interesting people doing interesting things. […]

one year later.

Here is a project I’ve worked on during my short time so far in China. I spent some time documenting the ongoing situation in the Sichuan Province as we approached the first anniversary of last year’s earthquake. In addition, here are some photos from…
