O’DonnellWeb v2013.1

By From / • Apr 20th, 2013 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

So I changed a few things around here. Hopefully you noticed the new “About.me” style entry page to the blog. You may also be be noticing that this does not look like Wordpress. I started using Wordpress when Movable Type was the hot blog CMS. 4000+ posts later and I was sort of bored with Wordpress. After playing with about a dozen different options I settled on Anchor CMS. It’s not even at version 1.0 yet, so expect stuff to break around here. That is what makes it fun.

The Wordpress site still exists and is here as an archive. With this version of ODonnellWeb I’ve gone very stripped down. No sidebars or anything else to distract. It’s all about what I write. Also, since nobody actually comments on blogs anymore I’m not bothering with comments. The conversations have migrated to Facebook, Twitter, and Google +. I don’t necessarily like it, but it is not a hill I want to die on either.

If anything seems broken please let me know.

Wow! That was a new chase experience!

By From http://stormsrus.blogspot.com/ • Apr 20th, 2013 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I headed out to chase just after lunch yesterday – Friday Apr. 19th – with the idea of starting out in Gretna where I would meet my son and chase together.  That part of the day worked out as planned but the rest of the chase was almost totally un…

Speed Defense Myth: The Officer has to Produce his Tuning Fork Logs

By From http://www.andrewflusche.com • Apr 18th, 2013 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

False. In Virginia courts where I practice, there are no tuning fork calibration logs. What the officer has are certificates of accuracy for his tuning fork. These certificates by statute must be dated within six months prior to the offense date. They are pieces of paper. Sometimes they are full sheets; sometimes they are a […]

The Late Night Crypt(ical)

By From http://www.musingsoverapint.com/ • Apr 18th, 2013 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Earlier this week, I was deciding on a beer to enjoy as we sat up late one night (or was it early morning?) visiting with a friend. I saw the Starr Hill Cryptical Imperial Stout in the fridge — there’s a fitting nighttime libation! I had first h…

The Collectivist State

By From http://www.musingsoverapint.com/ • Apr 17th, 2013 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

The latest groupthink from the left claims that responsibility for educating children belongs to “the community,” not parents. In a “Lean Forward” propaganda piece, MSN resident Marxist Melissa Harris-Perry makes the claim, “We haven’t had a …

Parameters still hinting at Friday setup

By From http://stormsrus.blogspot.com/ • Apr 17th, 2013 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

This 12Z NAM graphic shows the Supercell Composite Parameter to be >2 for much of eastern Virginia at 8 pm Friday.  That provides some “comfort” feeling that Friday’s setup will be worth chasing even if the 0-6 km wind shear is pretty much unid…
