Rain, perhaps?

Tomorrow looks like we might be lucky enough to see some rain given an easterly flow off the Atlantic due to weak surface high pressure wedging down the east side of the Blue Ridge...a summertime example of cold air damming without the cold air.  That, coupled with the passage of a short wave trough - small upper air disturbance - and some luck should provide us with showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder tomorrow afternoon.  After that the NWS Sterling forecast for Monday thru Friday gets a bit monotonous, starting with the same phrase every day:  "A chance of showers and thunderstorms".  Wednesday does get special attention as moist air is forecast to pool over top of us ahead of an approaching cold front, but the overall forecast for the next five days shows only <3/4 inch of rain for Fredericksburg:
Maybe some of that juicier rainfall will slide further north and provide more for us.  Hope so, as the soil underneath the dry grass is like talcum powder:  very fine, and very dry.
