By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Jan 14th, 2019 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I’ve got a little over 1000 LinkedIn contacts. A lot of people would claim I have a network. A lot of people would wrong. The vast majority of the contacts are random people I chatted with once for 5 minutes at a conference, and have never spoken to again. Or …

New Year New Server

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Jan 12th, 2019 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

My web host got bought out by a large hosting company that I don’t want to deal with. So I get to migrate to a new host. This is made infinately easier by the fact that this site is just a collection of HTML files and images. Yay for not …

2018 in selfies

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Jan 7th, 2019 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I’ve done this for the last few years – pulled out my favorite selfies from the year and put them into a slideshow. Why yes, this is a low effort blog post just posting something I already made. Why do you ask?

Where are the American bubble factories

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Jan 6th, 2019 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I was out running errands with my wife today and she wanted to stop by the Dollar Store to pick up a bottle of bubbles for the preschool she runs. Swinging by the Dollar Store to buy a bottle of bubble made me immediately think of (Whatever Happened to The …

Go Analog

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Jan 3rd, 2019 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Jan 1st, 2019 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

So I actually managed to push a blog post every day in December. And by every day I mean there is a post dated for each day of the month. I actually wrote ahead by a day or two for much of the month. I’m sure you are wondering what …

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Dec 31st, 2018 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I started this silly little site on 12-31-1995. It’s older than my daughter, by about a month. I’m not going to repeat the full origin story. Hit that previous link if you don’t know the story.

The 31 post December makes this my most productive year of blogging in many …

No More Resolutions

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Dec 30th, 2018 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Most people use New Year’s resolutions as a way to procrastinate. Instead of starting the change today, for whatever value of today it is, we put it off to start on this break point we call the new year. Really, we what we are doing is procrastinating. Any change worth …

Richmond Liberty Trail

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Dec 29th, 2018 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

The Richmond Liberty Trail is Richmond’s attempt to be like Boston with its Freedom Trail. I don’t think Richmond is putting as much effort into their trail as Boston, and it shows.

The history along the six mile walk is certainly compelling, but we are locals and were hiking with …

Firefox Removes RSS Support

By From https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/ • Dec 28th, 2018 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Effective with Firefox 64, which is the current version as of December 28, 2018, the Firefox browser no longer supports RSS feed discovery or preview. Chrome killed that functionality a while ago. Less than .1% of users used the RSS functionality of Firefox so I guess I can’t really blame …
