Butch Walker at The Recher Theater – Towson MD

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • May 22nd, 2010 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I’ve been a huge Butch Walker fan for years, but his concerts local to me always seem to happen when I can’t make it. Not this time. I took the afternoon off, hooked up with a hot date, and headed North to Baltimore. Slowly. Really slowly. I mean really freaking slowly. A combination of Friday […]

This is going to get ranty. You’ve been warned. My wife wears an insulin pump. It costs over $5000 and has be replaced every 4-5 years. The supplies it consumes monthly run several hundred dollars. Every.Month. There are no generics, no alternate suppliers. We bend over and pay whatever Medtronic wants. Insulin pumps have been […]

Joseph Beth Booksellers Fredericksburg VA

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • May 16th, 2010 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

We had some time to kill after dinner Friday evening before we needed to pick up our daughter from a Girl Scout event. So we wandered into the new Joseph Beth store at Spotsy Towne Center.
I don’t get it.
They are trying to play up the independent bookstore angle, but there is no indie vibe about […]

Give CavTel an A+ for tech support

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • May 15th, 2010 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Last night when we came home from dinner we had no internet. After I rebooted the router and modem and tested a few things to convince myself that it was not an issue with my equipment, I sucked it up and called tech support. In the 3 or 4 years we’ve been on CavTel DSL […]

Newsflash: Higher Ed ain’t what it used to be

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Apr 29th, 2010 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I love it when famous people break interesting concepts. Particularly when it’s something we’ve been talking about around here for years.
As if the Sadie Hawkins Day dance wasn’t bad enough
The college question
The declining value of a college degree
A 4 year degree is highly overrated
Seth Godin is afraid college is about to crash and burn. He […]

Michael J Fox: Unschooled by Hollywood?

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Apr 18th, 2010 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Micheal J Fox dropped out of high school to follow his dream, acting. Obviously, that worked out pretty good for him. Now he has written a book aimed at graduates. Irony aside, anybody at his level of success has learned a lot. That those lessons were not supplied by the school system is not relevant. […]

My Oddbook book list

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Apr 3rd, 2010 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

One of the things I’ve always wanted to do on ODonnellWeb is catalog the books I read. I’ve written a lot of book reviews here, although I’ve probably not reviewed more books than I have actually reviewed. I’ve listed books on social media sites, but I never keep up. All of which is a long […]

The next great rock guitarist is a girl?

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Mar 17th, 2010 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I heard this song flipping through the radio while stuck in traffic on the way home. It was on the Top 40 channel, and the guitar work caught my attention because it was a hell of a lot more interesting that what you normally hear on the radio. I had never heard the song before. […]
