Seems our honorable mayor is running all around town lately. Spies saw him on William on Saturday "looking flushed and sweaty." He went in several shops, we hear he's distressed, don't know why...is it about our Mayoral Race 2012 poll?
Some big new is coming across our desks today so stay tuned. We're trying to finish the blind items.

Another gentleman, "Ken," wrote in to say the University Cafe was targeting the markets of other businesses before it even opened. Nothing wrong with that 'cause that's the way it works in America. The problem is they seem to have belly flopped and alienated other businesses in the process. Can't we all just get along? Anyway he decided against working there.
"I almost worked in the kitchen at the cafe. I can tell you their targets were Hyperion, Kybecca and Sammy T['s]. The head dude said he wanted to corner the market on quick food, coffee, liquor and healthy vegetarian options. They also want to be the only late night entertainment destination. Weird they never mentioned Capitol Ale House."
We also agree it's strange that C.A.H. seems to be off their radar? And then there's "Terry," who says she works at the University Cafe. We can confirm we spoke with her late on Friday night after she left her shift [and joined us for drinks!!! courtesy of Mr. Blogmaster's tiny petty cash stash]. She's youngish and needs the job [who doesn't honey???] and is not sure what to think of things.
"My training was nonexistent and it became clear no one had really been in food service before.....I don't know why they dislike Kybecca and Hyperion so much. But they actively want to take business away from both places and said that went into how they made the menu. .....No one has mentioned Sammy T's to me. ....They've also tried to have really cheap prices to attract more people. They somehow think that people who used to eat at Bistro and La Petite will instead go there because of "the uptown look" and they have some new publicity person to bring business from Bistro, La Petite and Kybecca. ......I do have a friend that works at Bistro and they say it has been quieter and their bosses are not happy. But the food is not the same and the quality of people is different so all of the wait staff thinks this is a strange idea. ....My tips are lousy so until the food improves somebody's just dreaming."
"Terry" is mulling a move somewhere else. She was one of four legit people we could talk to. There are more emails we're trying to verify.
Any reports on how the weekend went at any downtown spot? Did anyone close because they ran out of food (cue laughter)? We'll post positive and negative reviews. Slow day.

Talk about a let down. We've heard no news about Wonder Woman strolling the streets of Fred Vegas to support our troops and the Marine Corps Marathon.
We've been so excited for days at the prospect of juicy gossip.
We dreamed she'd check into some downtown B & B and make some diva demands. If we were lucky she would have gone crazy with the staff, but then again Lynda is too classy for that.
We've dreamed she would go the University Cafe, be forced to wait an hour for her food, then she'd get fed up with her experience and go across the street to Kybecca, causing an all-out war on William with heavy collateral damage.
But this didn't happen. What a bore of a weekend.
We wanted to know how she looked, what she wore, who she was with (we dreamed it would be Brad Pitt or pretty Ashton). Guess it's time to put our costume away and hope this all turns out in the future. People if you saw anything fun please write in!
Our Mr. Blogmaster will be happy he didn't miss anything. PS we are so POd at you know who for showing us that BB email. We'll NEVER believe you again. A Hyperion mirage!

We received a medium amount of emails related to "Pete Lawrence" and his fledgling mayoral bid. They advance a new theory.
For us, "medium amount" usually only means between 5 and 10! But hey, it's a small blog!
Anyway, these people think the "Silver Spoons" could help "Pete" because it would ensure he had a much larger treasury to pull from than probably any other candidate. Sorry, Mrs. Kybeccca and Matt Kelly.
Those "Silver Spoons" would keep the money running, according to those who advance this theory.
They'd sponsor the Rapp Film Festival and make it look like all of those pictures we see from Cannes.
Well, maybe not.
People, this is not 2004 it is 2009. The race will be in 2012.
"Silver Spoons" make their money through massive real estate development projects.
Those projects have been tanking. Most real estate is worth 2,786% less than what we all paid for it even a year ago and that is unlikely to increase in the near future.
So unless the good days return for these "Silver Spoons" we're not sure how much moolah they'll be throwing around in politics.
Those "Silver Spoons" are looking more like..pewter. Or maybe lead.
Good news for the Greenlaws, Wilsons, Snyders and Kellys of the world.

Why won't anyone return our calls?
So rude!
We have nothing new and it's Friday.
Has she arrived? Did she check into that homeless hotel by Carl's?
Or is this a prank to get us excited?
Guess we won't know till Monday.
Anyone with sightings please email them in.

One email that we found interesting about the University Cafe v Kybecca blood feud
From "Martin" an "almost U Cafe employee":
"Almost worked there but didn't. Date kept getting pushed back. I needed a quick job. The smack in your words was obvious in my interview. I can only guess why. When they first planned the cafe the wine bar either wasn't open or hadn't been open long and assuming they had opened last fall they might have been able to tap more into that market. Like 6 months went by without anything. So now they think they can make up for that because they serve mixed drinks and stay open later. I just know from friends who work there it is chaos. I should be happy to drive to Short Pump for my tips I guess."
-"Martin Brittany"
We can't answer the Short Pump quandary. But we still want to know from employees or those close to the operation (legit only please) if it is organized chaos that will work itself out OR oh s-t what are we doing we are falling off a cliff chaos.
More emails coming soon. Mrs. Kybecca did you read through the specific smack posts from last week? "Gloria" had her car break down so our day has not gone as planned. Hot sweaty and covered in grease. Sounds like the start to another Fred Vegas weekend!

Yesterday a business owner from Kybecca, much loved by our Blogmaster, wrote in to ask about some recent smack talkin' coming her direction from across the street at University Cafe. We decided to reopen an issue that had been dead for a few days in order to get more feedback. We didn't realize we were going to be flooded not only with juicy "smack examples" but also lots of reports of bad blood plus some pretty unflattering reviews. MRS. KYBECCA HAS UNLEASHED A TIDAL WAVE. Somewhere we assume she knew this would happen? Anyone associated with the UC needs to sit up and pay attention because word on the street is that you are expecting a big weekend. *****Most people would like you to be a great new downtown destination***** but the problem is extremely lackluster service, inconsistent food and especially certain management figures might be standing in the way of your success and BTW it also makes no sense to PO your neighbors EVEN AFTER IT WAS POSTED ON A BLOG. We assumed it was a relatively isolated incident but we assumed wrong. Once we sort through it all we'll post what we can.

Apparently our posting on crack has hit too close to home. It's possible we were on it when we posted some things about Wonder Woman showing up in our little town. Little did we know that the event coming to Fred Vegas over the weekend is not a Marine Corps Marathon and has a different list of people associated with it. In other words we may have called the wrong place last night and it explains the confusion on the other end of the line. We may have wrong information here but our original volunteer source STILL SAYS the email has Lynda's name on it so maybe it's true? We did see the BB email with our own eyes. Was Hyperion forcing a mental mirage?
We've looked up Lynda's "representation" and placed calls. Shockingly no one has called our little blog back.
Whatev we're soaking the rays and spying on every conversation we can this afternoon so it is not a total loss. It is amazing what you hear spending 60 minutes walking a loop from Hyperion to Dixon Street.

Our brave Blogmaster has reported that he and "Shari" are still together. Well Thank God. We give it maybe another week. He misses being in the thick of the action. We think he's lying and that he's actually hidden himself at some self storage park in Massapon-ass. That's quite a "Secret Govt Location" if you ask us. Hopefully he won't fire us for saying that. But to fire us means we'd actually have to be paid...wait a minute, what kind of gig is this?
Ma Boo's amped up Blind Items coming soon. They needed some punch, some fun, just something more. As devotees of Blind Item Science 101, we promise to out-do Us Weekly in our upcoming installments.
