Stafford Dem Chair on Brian Moran: “Uniquely Positioned to Win in November”

Control of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors could very well come down to the Falmouth District. This November, a seasoned politico in Stafford County GOP Chair Susan Stimpson will take on Democratic candidate Doug Filler, a retired businessman. The BPOL tax will likely be the most talked about issue.
from the Stafford County Democrats:
Falmouth resident Doug Filler has formally announced his candidacy for the position of Supervisor, representing the Falmouth District. In his statement at the Berea fire station #12, off Route 17, Mr. Filler cited his nearly three decades of small business ownership as “experience that will be invaluable in helping to govern Stafford and assist its over-burdened taxpayers in coping with the fiscal belt-tightening that will be required of us over the next few years.”
Mr. Filler stated that he views a Supervisor’s principal role as protecting the financial integrity of the county’s budget, to maintain the quality of life for all Stafford residents in the face of today’s economic uncertainties. “At this time, when we are experiencing the most severe recession in 8 decades, many of our residents have suffered job losses, dramatically reduced home values, and significantly decreased retirement savings. It is imperative that the Board of Supervisors find new and innovative ways to support the continued growth and development of Stafford County without resorting to constantly increasing tax rates.”
He specifically cited the recent enactment by the Board of Business, Professional and Occupational Licensing (BPOL), which is projected to produce an estimated $4 million in revenue for the 2010 budget. He asked his opponent– who recently told The Free Lance-Star that she “would repeal BPOL. Absolutely. Without a doubt.”—“Where will the missing $4 million come from? Either by reducing the budgets for our schools, fire and rescue services, sheriff’s department and the transportation fund, or raising homeowners’ real estate taxes again.”
Mr. Filler also stressed the need to raise teachers’ salary levels to match those of Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg and Prince William, and thereby reduce the loss of experienced educators to other nearby school systems. “Supervisors must work in partnership with the School Board to adequately fund our educational system,” he added.
With regard to transportation issues, he noted the need to implement the planned reconstruction of the Falmouth light intersection “while maintaining the integrity of historic Falmouth Village”; supporting VRE and bringing high-speed rail service to Stafford; and seeking U. S. stimulus funds to improve highway maintenance and construction on I-95.
Finally, Mr. Filler promised to campaign throughout the Falmouth District and meet with residents in all of its diverse neighborhoods. He pledged to maintain Stafford’s standing as “one of the most fiscally sound counties in the entire country”, and offered to debate his opponent directly on all of these issues during the campaign, adding that “Falmouth District voters deserve no less.”

November’s winning ticket is going to be:
Bob McDonnell
Bill Bolling
Ken Cuccinelli

Governor. Excerpted from the FL-S:
She helped maintain the commonwealth’s AAA credit rating, making the necessary tough choices to get the budget back on track after years of mismanagement under former Gov. Gilmore.
It is because of Jody’s work in balancing the budget and securing our credit rating that we’ve been able to keep investing in our future while other states struggle to weather the storm.
I couldn’t agree more.
As Mr. Broklawski’s predecessor as Stafford Dem Chair, and as a local small-business owner, I urge readers of Fred2Blue to vote for Jody Wagner for Lt. Governor.
Primary Day is Tuesday, June 9.
…or has it always been like this??
Do you recognize these guys from your last trip to the day care center? They were next door neighbors who lived right on the Fauquier/Stafford border on the Stafford side for all their lives.
Just how close are they to your $500k house? You might be surprised!
Monroe has a LONG history of shooting at people, tresspassing, squatting, messing with erosion controls on the Rappahannock shoreline (with a bulldozer), alcoholism, family abuse. You may recall- he’s the guy who yanked a couple of kids off their 4-wheelers and spraypainted them because he thought they were on his property…. funny thing is that he doesn’t OWN any property!
He’s living on his family’s land and they have been tied up in court for years to get him off of it!
But his most recent “oopsie” that the court system has allowed to occur is ole James allegedly took a stroll and stabbed his neighbor to death in his trailor. [read FLS story here]
That’s right folks- the next time you have to go to court for a parking ticket, or have to visit the courthouse a 5th time for a building permit, or argue until you’re blue in the face that Patriot Towing company stole your car again, or your HOA is suing you for that American flag in your yard– just remember that while YOU are treated like a criminal by the elitist few whom we allow to be our judges, their liberal spine tells them that animals like Monroe should be given another chance to live among the rest of us, and we should pay a fine.
The justice system has failed Staffordians miserably, and now someone is dead because of it. Which judge set this guy free most recently?
Yep- welcome to Stafford County- where men are men … and sheep are very nervous around some men.

The worst kept secret in Stafford is now official, as county GOP Chair Susan Stimpson is indeed running for Supervisor in the Falmouth district.
Personally, I’m just glad she’s gotten her life back together since getting rejected from season 6 of American Idol.
Mazel tov to Stafford Dem Chair Marc Broklawski and his wife, Amanda!
Word arrived late last night from MWH that Amanda and Marc welcomed son Benjamin Ethan to the world.
Mom, Dad, and big brother Noah are doing well, although hospital personnel are unable to keep the very tired, but excited Dad from tweeting.
Anyone going from the Fredericksburg Area- meet at 3:00PM on April 15th at Southpointe Walmart Parking lot (off I-95, Exit 126-b south on Route 1, first right into Southpointe II), south end of the lot- across from Longhorn Steakhouse.
To show unity on April 15th we are asking everyone, whether you’re going to the tea party or not, to place either a sticker or printed copy of the Gadsden flag (DON’T TREAD ON ME with snake) on the rear window of their car.
Here’s an example (feel free to use it or find another similar):
