The idea for fburgnews.com circled around my brain for awhile. I finally took advantage of a free weekend and banged it out.
Fredericksburg needs a greater diversity of media coverage, so hopefully by consolidating all of it (or what little there is) will help.
Additionally, I want to line up bloggers and others to contribute to the original content part (thanks Bryan!) to allow more voices to be heard. It’s not my site, I just want to push the snowball down the hill and see what happens.
The inclusion of local blogs and the RSS feed from local media is designed to allow readers to experience not just a diversity of news but different types of media as well.
There are a few kinks still to be worked out… it needs more contributors, it needs a working weather station at Fredericksburg (we’ve been stuck at 77 degrees for a week), and it needs suggestions.
Thoughts?
Best case scenario: You’ll go and enjoy the Soap Box Derby. Worst case scenario: You’ll have to take a detour to avoid the madness. Either way, the Soap Box Derby is a-coming Saturday. The FLS has more information here.
