I’ve been mem’ed

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Love the eclectic life tagged me with a book meme. it has something to do with spinning a bottle, but this seem less fun than the way we used to play spin the bottle
1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.

Announcing fburgnews.com

By From http://thefredreview.com/tfr • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

The idea for fburgnews.com circled around my brain for awhile. I finally took advantage of a free weekend and banged it out.

Fredericksburg needs a greater diversity of media coverage, so hopefully by consolidating all of it (or what little there is) will help.

Additionally, I want to line up bloggers and others to contribute to the original content part (thanks Bryan!) to allow more voices to be heard. It’s not my site, I just want to push the snowball down the hill and see what happens.

The inclusion of local blogs and the RSS feed from local media is designed to allow readers to experience not just a diversity of news but different types of media as well.

There are a few kinks still to be worked out… it needs more contributors, it needs a working weather station at Fredericksburg (we’ve been stuck at 77 degrees for a week), and it needs suggestions.

Thoughts?

Best case scenario:  You’ll go and enjoy the Soap Box Derby. Worst case scenario:  You’ll have to take a detour to avoid the madness. Either way, the Soap Box Derby is a-coming Saturday. The FLS has more information here.

He Said Beer, She Said Wine – The Today Show Appearance

By From http://vadavid.blogspot.com/ • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I posted a review of the book “He Said Beer, She Said Wine” last March. In the past few months this fun and informative book has gotten a lot of coverage both online and in print, but the exposure has been mostly limited to beer and wine niche venues….

Why I’m Giddy About the 11th

By From http://fred2blue.wordpress.com • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Gerry Connolly is the heavy favorite now to pick up a seat for Democrats in VA’s 11th congressional district. Tom Davis has owned the seat for the past 14 years starting, predictably, in the GOP landslide year of 1994. For years Davis was considered a rising star in the Republican Party and has been eye-balling […]

ODonnellWeb makes the Alltop catalog

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Geez, it’s a good week for notoriety around here I’m in Guy Kawasaki’s Alltop metablog in the education category. Should I think about writing something actually education related?

What the world eats, part I

By From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

Interesting photo essay showing representative weekly diets from various parts of the world. Compare and contrast the German family of 4 spending $500 a week with the Chad refugee camp family spending $1.23 per week or the Ecuadorian family of 10 eating on $31 a week or the Bhutan family of 12 eating for $5 […]

What Are the Lack of Photos Hiding?

By From http://fredericksburgrealestateblog.com • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: Blog Entries.Local

I just had a potential buyer of Fredericksburg real estate ask a great question.  That question was regarding the lack of photos contained within a real estate listing.  Specifically the question was, “There are no photos with this listing, are they hiding something?”
It is a great question.  Most often, the answer is no, they aren’t […]
