Stupervisor “Furious” George Schwartz Quits Campaign for Delegate After 20 Days

Author: From http://rappahannockred.wordpress.com • Mar 4th, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics, Stafford

Some days are better than others. That’s life.

Today was a good day for Stafford. Stupervisor Schwartz threw in the towell after just 20 short dyas on the campaign trail for Bill Howell’s seat as Virginia Delegate.

In a press release today, Schwartz said he could not run a “targeted, full-time race while simultaneously tending to county business”. As if he were actually “tending” to county business!

Schwartz said the campaign was “overtaking his work as supervisor.” ROFL. That’s the best part!

Word on the street was that he got really annoyed by this blog and couldn’t find any comfort from his Democrat pals whom he assumed would support him. Other bloggers in the area stood ready to start unveiling videos, stats and comparasons between his promises, his destructive agenda and his voting record that when amplified to cover a delegate’s area would have utterly destroyed Stafford’s failing economy.

Funny thing about a voting record… they’re hard to run away from.

Plenty of time remains for another opponent to enter the race for delegate, so Howell is not out of the woods yet and Furious George hasn’t said whether he’ll seek another term as Stafford’s most irresponsible chairman.

No one from the Republican or Independent Parties has announced their intentions to run in the Falmouth District yet either. Two to three are considering the seat. If none emerge, I’ll run a campaign for “Tuna Sandwich” to run against him and see how many votes Tuna can get.

For now though, the scalp count stands at: Rappahannock Red=1 —- George Schwartz=0

The George Schwartz Conspiracy Theory- How is He Able to be Twice as Bad as Any Supervisor

Author: From http://rappahannockred.wordpress.com • Feb 18th, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics, Stafford

It’s like the Janet-Michael conundrum all over again…You never see them in the same place at the same time. George Schwartzburns-delegate

Are they in fact, the same person?

There are similarities in their color and font usage in their advertisements which catches my eye at first as suspicious.

If it weren’t for the name differences, I couldn’t tell them apart.  Maybe they are twins??

That could explain how he can be twice as bad as any supervisor who’s ever held the seat and how he’s committed to doing twice as much damage to the local economy as any other predecessor.

Schwartz told the FLS last week, “My term as supervisor is coming to a close, I think I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.  I have every confidence that the board will continue on the track it is presently on next year, and the time is right to take on this next challenge.”

And now he wants to run for Delegate?  EGADS!  He wants to do for Virginia what he’s done to Stafford County??

God help us all!

“Furious” George Schwartz, An Angry Man Doing a Bad Job Lusting for More Power

Author: From http://rappahannockred.wordpress.com • Feb 15th, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics, Stafford

schwartz-signMay the video clips begin to flood the blogs now!

Schwartz, an 80-ish year old,  New York “come-here” of Falls Run active-adult community, got involved in politics because he had a problem with his new retirement house that he couldn’t work out amicably with the builder to solve.  1,200 other unit owners had punch-list items and managed to resolved all or most of them, but not George!

Bored and pre-disposed with telling everyone what to do his whole life and getting his way, George took his anger on a march around the neighborhood.  To his credit, he got results!  He rallied a few neighbors, until he heard the magic words that he longed to hear, “George- why don’t YOU run for supervisor?”

He was a conspiracy theorist, and the builders were the devils to blame for his senility and anger management issues, not him.  So he fired his group up too. They were just plain ‘furious’ about the impression that builders and developers were awful people and were somehow magically running the county from behind giant curtains.

He won by a “mandate of the people” as Bob “do the math” Woodson would call it —of a barely couple hundred votes— in an election that also narrowly gave us the incompetence of transparently-NOT-an-Independent Joe  Brito, a puppet of former ousted supervisor David Beiler (a liberal political consultant rumored to be announcing that he want to come back as Supervisor soon.)  Zzsheah, right.

My what a motley bunch we have here now….

Focusing back on topic, George Schwartz’s announcement that he wants to run for delegate, let’s recap just a few of the lowlights of the Supervisor Schwartz legacy:

  • Voted to increase taxes on all businesseswhile the country sank into recession (BPOL)
  • Voted to increase taxes on property ownersand other citizens while people were losing their jobs (tax rates and recent VACO priorities)
  • Voted to increase his pay by 25%
  • Voted to cut funds for schools and public safety
  • Voted to construct more buildings for county government rather than fix the roads
  • Voted to confiscate peoples property
  • As Chairman, orders that all public speaking be limited to 3 minutes or less from the meager 5 minutes
  • Regularly berates fellow Supervisors and and occasionally the publicshowing little interest in hearing from anyone from the public, or anyone else’s opinion including experts
  • Was quoted as saying, “The more lawsuits there are, the better job I’m doing” to the newspaper
  • Dissolved the Transportation Committee (made up of local experts who advise on roads, gridlock and funding solutions)

…and all of that came before the upcoming budget and Comprehensive Plan!

What do we expect on the final Comp Plan? So far Schwartz:

  • Voted for plan that would raise average taxpayer burden by 200%
  • Voted for plan drafted by his appointee to the PC who has been reported to say “our job on the planning commission is to decide who gets rich, and who does not”
  • Voted on a plan that would allow over 12,000 new apartments to be built in Stafford
  • Voted for a plan that would grow county government by 450%
  • Voted for a plan that would deny public services to county taxpayers while allowing wealthy out of town apartment developers to gorge themselves on profits (see bullet two and three above). So much for slaying the dragons –that is, developers.

What might we expect on the upcoming budget?

  • Likely to cut education funding
  • Likely to cut public safety funding
  • Highly likely to raise taxes to cover pet projects
  • Refusal to balance the budget with current tax inflow
  • High spending on law suit settlements without adequate funding to cover the inevitable county loses

Now I KNOW you have a gem or two to add to this list- please do so in the comments section.  This can be YOUR first act of participation!

The new consumer safety standards for children’s products will kill childhood

Author: From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Feb 13th, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics

Another royal fuck up by our benevolent Federal Govt. The lead testing standards for any product intended for use by a child under 12 are only affordable by the Mattel’s and Hasbro’s of the world. If you sell handmade toys on Etsy or Ebay you will be required to test a sample from every batch for lead. That could easily cost $1000. Books published prior to 1985 must be tested for lead ink. Given that no library can afford that testing, it seems logical that children under 12 will simply be banned from libraries or the children’s collections will be trashed.

Barbed with penalties that include felony prison time and fines of $100,000, the law goes into effect in stages; one key deadline is Feb. 10, when it becomes unlawful to ship goods for sale that have not been tested. Eventually, new kids’ goods will all have to be subjected to more stringent “third-party” testing, and it will be unlawful to give away untested inventory even for free.

The first thing to note is that we’re not just talking about toys here. With few exceptions, the law covers all products intended primarily for children under 12. That includes clothing, fabric and textile goods of all kinds: hats, shoes, diapers, hair bands, sports pennants, Scouting patches, local school-logo gear and so on.

And paper goods: books, flash cards, board games, baseball cards, kits for home schoolers, party supplies and the like. And sporting equipment, outdoor gear, bikes, backpacks and telescopes. And furnishings for kids’ rooms.

And videogame cartridges and audio books. And specialized assistive and therapeutic gear used by disabled and autistic kids.

There are few things more dangerous than a Congressperson doing something “for the children.”

Did Jeff Frederick Prematurely Edjucate?

Author: From http://rappahannockred.wordpress.com • Feb 11th, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics

Our man, Jeff Frederick is at it again like an 18 year old boy in Vegas in a small room with a Heidi Fleiss-trained consultant.  Overzealous and careless it seems, JFred appears to have blown the birthday candles out before the last one was lit. That may have been the deciding factor upsetting the potential 20-20 vote balance via caucus agreements in the VA Senate.

But it wasn’t candle wax that got JFred all eager and nervous, it was the lure of popularity and approval ratings among full-sized adults on that damned Internet again, namely Twitter.

That’s the best case!

Worst case is that he let himself get manipulated into THINKING he was about to hold the information that could be the cornerstone of the Virignia Senate balance, when it fact it could have been a complete rouse by slick Liberal Democrats’ maneuvering and positioning artists aimed at lulling JFred into a sense of power and authority only to yank it out from under him and topple his house of cards.

Nah not JFred. He would never succomb to THAT temptation.  He’s much too principled, experienced and wise to fall for that old trick… besides we all know JFred can hold back and not blow his wad when he wills himself to.

Can’t he?

h/t  Bearing Drift:

Democratic State Senators Ralph Northam and John Miller are part of the Virginia “Commonwealth Caucus”, a group of four Senators that look to bipartisan solutions to our state’s most pressing problems.

But one of them almost became a Republican today. Jim Riley broke the news earlier this afternoon that Del. Jeff Frederick was tweeting that there was “big news” potentially coming from the Senate Democratic Caucus This set off rampant speculation that Northam, or potentially Miller, were switching parties.

Upon getting this word, Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw called an emergency caucus which included some substantial arm twisting of Northam.

After the caucus, Northam remains a Democrat. The appearance is that a “premature” tweet from Frederick is the cause of the Senate not garnering a 20-20 split.

And so, not surprisingly, there are calls for Frederick’s head.

I got a letter from Michael Farris

Author: From http://www.odonnellweb.com • Feb 8th, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics

I imagine all homeschoolers in VA got this letter. He is shilling for Ken Cuccinelli, a three term state senator and attorney who is running for Attorney General. I guess it was cheaper to blast out a direct mail piece to all homeschoolers in VA. Farris doesn’t really believe that all homeschoolers in the state are right wing fundies, does he? I do wonder what list he bought, as HSLDA certainly should not have my address in their records anywhere.

Farris covers all the standard religious right talking points. He spends two paragraphs discussing how a homeschooling parent as Attorney General would be a good for homeschoolers, and 10 paragraphs pitching the usual right wing talking points. Cuccinelli is opposed to equal right for gays, in favor of forcing teenagers and women of all ages into giving birth under state orders, anti-immigration, tax cuts, 2nd Amendment rights, blah blah blah. Certainly I lean conservative on issues like taxes and gun rights, but not at the expense of every woman in the state, immigrants, and my gay friends.

Farris helpfully included a postage paid postcard to use to express your interest in helping set VA back 50 years by electing Cuccinelli to office. I strongly encourage all VA Homeschoolers to use the card to tell Cuccinelli exactly what you think of his positions. Even better, glue the card to a brick before you send it back.

(Just kidding about the brick. I don’t think that will actually work.)

Hey Virginians: Help SB-801 Today! Racist Extremists Now Want to Take Your Right To Choose License Plates!

Author: From http://rappahannockred.wordpress.com • Feb 3rd, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics

Planned Parenthood (a racist, rape-condoning, embezzling group of the nation’s largest abortion chains) is heavily lobbying in Virginia (using tax money we all gave them for ‘education’) to put a halt to….. yep… LICENSE PLATES being proposed with SB 801.  This so-called defender of “choice” in America wants to take away your ability to choose your own license plate!

Don’t like the new custom license plate for any reason?  Don’t buy it! It’s that simple.  This custom plate program supports literally HUNDREDS of causes throughout the state through VOLUNTARILY paying more to sport your favorite college, hobby, or cause.  Planned Parenthood says in no uncertain terms, that they are unwilling to give you the freedom of choice of your own license plate! Which one you ask?

Choose Life license plate- Planned Parenthood wants to take away your choice!

Choose Life license plate; NOW Planned Parenthood wants to take away your choice!

Specifically, “Choose Life” license plates.  They object because they say proceeds from the plate sales would go to crisis pregnancy centers!  You know, CPC’s — where a pregnant mom can go for things like advice, diapers, parenting videos, counseling, pamphlets, doctor’s check ups, and if needed, adoption referrals.  CPC’s are almost always funded by churches or private endowments, and the occasional bake sale.  They’re staffed nearly always by volunteers.

Planned Parenthood hates these places since they don’t advocate for abortions which make up nearly 1/3 of PP’s income (more than $1 billion in sales per year with $335 million of YOUR MONEY subsidized) and oh yes, occasionally KILL a mother.

The bill is in Virginia’s Transportation Committee right now.  It’s SB 801.  PP wants you to call your VA senator and tell him/her to say no to the Choose Life plates.

I’m asking you to take the next 2 minutes and tell him/her to vote YES ON SB 801.

Please do this now. Make SURE your Republican Senators uphold the plank in our party platform that supports LIFE, and find at least one Democrat who believes that a license plate “choice” should be made by the consumer and not the government lobbyists with selfish interests at heart.

Transportation Commitee Members:

  • Sen. Yvonne Miller ( D-5 ) Chair
  • Sen. Harry Blevins ( R-14 )
  • Sen. Frank Wagner ( R-7 )
  • Sen. John Watkins ( R-10 )
  • Sen. Robert Hurt ( R-19 )
  • Sen. Ryan McDougle ( R-4 )
  • Sen. Steve Newman ( R-23 )
  • Sen. Ralph Smith ( R-22 )
  • Sen. Creigh Deeds ( D-25 )
  • Sen. Edd Houck ( D-17 )
  • Sen. Henry Marsh ( D-16 )
  • Sen. John Miller ( D-1 )
  • Sen. Chap Petersen ( D-34 )
  • Sen. Phil Puckett ( D-38 )
  • Sen. Patsy Ticer ( D-30 )

And this is all it’s about:

Senate Bill 801
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1. Special license plates for supporters of the Choose Life Virginia Fund; fees.

A. On receipt of an application and payment of the fee prescribed by this section, and following the provisions of § 46.2-725 of the Code of Virginia other than those relating to the fee for the plates and its disposition, the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles shall issue special license plates bearing the legend CHOOSE LIFE to supporters of the Choose Life Virginia Fund, prescribed in subsection B.

 B. The annual fee for plates issued pursuant to this section shall be $25 in addition to the prescribed fee for state license plates. For each such $25 fee collected pursuant to this section, $25 shall be paid into the state treasury and credited to a special nonreverting fund known as the Choose Life Virginia Fund established within the Department of Accounts except for the reasonable estimated  marginal cost for initial issuance of each Choose Life Virginia plate not recoverable from the prescribed annual fee for state license plates  and the reasonable estimated  marginal cost of disbursement and reporting of Choose Life Virginia Funds plus $1 per plate issued or renewed annually as specified in this section, not to exceed $10 per plate issued or renewed annually.   Annually these funds shall be paid equally to the pregnancy center locations in Virginia which are 501(c)(3) entities and affiliated with at least one of the pregnancy center affiliation organizations that has officially committed to the “Our Commitment of Care” standards, as may be delineated on the website of the pregnancy center affiliation organization Heartbeat International http://www.heartbeatinternational.org/. Choose Life Virginia Fund distributed funds are to be used to support the pregnancy center location’s operation and programs in Virginia and may be refused within 60 days by return to the Choose Life Virginia Fund. The Commissioner shall provide  along with the annual disbursement to pregnancy center locations a summary report (until such data is available from a publicly viewable database) containing (1) Choose Life Virginia initial plate issuances and renewals received (both counts and dollars,) (2) a count of new initially issued Choose Life personalized plates (3) total costs withheld pursuant to this section listed by reason withheld, (4) a list of the pregnancy center location names which are issued disbursements, and (5) the return address to be used if a pregnancy center location wishes to the refuse to receive Choose Life Virginia funds.  All other fees imposed under the provisions of this section shall be paid to, and received by, the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles, and paid by him into the state treasury and set aside as a special fund to be used to meet the necessary expenses incurred by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Bob McDonnell Duly Steps Down as A.G. to Focus on Campaign for Governor

Author: From http://rappahannockred.wordpress.com • Feb 3rd, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Politics

McDonnell is a class act.  He could have done what liberal Democrat Gov. Kaine did when fishing for a VP job, or a job with the DNC, but he didn’t.

He did the right thing and stepped aside so the taxpayers wouldn’t be paying for a service they weren’t getting as he focuses on the full-time job of running for office.

Bob has been a very strong supporter of our region’s needs as Attorney General, and I have no doubt that he’ll make a great governor too.
